Manny Mejia brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Houston Wildcatters coaching staff, having spent 15 years playing professional baseball as a catcher and first baseman. His professional career spanned 11 seasons in both the minors and independent leagues, where he played 617 games, made 2,401 plate appearances, and drove in 299 RBIs. As a catcher, he appeared in 416 games with an impressive .984 fielding average.

Mejia’s professional experience includes stints with the Pittsburgh Pirates organization from 2000 to 2003 and winning a championship with the Tampa Yankees in 2004. He also played with several Atlantic League teams, including Camden, Newark, Lancaster, and the Road Warriors. In 2012, he joined the Sugar Land Skeeters of the Atlantic League, and from 2013 to 2015, he played in the Mexican League with Rieleros, reaching two finals and securing a championship.

Transitioning to coaching, Mejia has dedicated the last 10 years to youth baseball, specializing in hitting and catching. He spent five years at the Houston Astros Youth Academy (2012-2017) and ten years at Dugout Baseball Academy (2012-2022), where he worked with players ranging from ages 8 to college level. His primary focus has been coaching 11U and 12U teams, where he has made a significant impact on player development. His broad understanding of the game and commitment to helping young athletes grow makes him an invaluable asset to the Houston Wildcatters.
