Coach Pendleton is a native Houstonian from Kingwood area. Pendleton played for Kingwood Highschool from 1999 to 2002, earning all-district MVP his senior year, in addition to all-Greater Houston and all-state accolades – both as a starting pitcher and as a batter. He held and continues to hold multiple hitting and pitching records for the Mustangs. Pendleton was then selected in the Major League Baseball draft by the San Diego Padres in the 13th round but ultimately decided to attend Rice University, where he was a contributor to the 2003 Rice Owls team that won the College World Series. During his collegiate career, he was a two-way player, regularly starting in right field and additionally coming in at times to close games as a relief pitcher for the Owls. Lance was again drafted into Major League Baseball, this time by the New York Yankees in the fourth round as a pitcher after his junior year in 2005, at which point he decided to start his professional career. Following eight years of professional baseball at both the minor and major league levels, Pendleton retired from baseball and moved back to the Kingwood area, where he started a new career in business but stayed involved in baseball at the youth level by offering private lessons (hitting and pitching) – something he has done for the last decade at The Zone Baseball Academy. More recently, Pendleton began coaching select teams in the area and has now joined the Houston Wildcatters.
