FAVORITE BASEBALL PLAYER GROWING UP: Derek Jeter

Coach Whittleman grew up in Kingwood, TX, where he graduated from Kingwood High School in 2005. He played baseball for Kingwood and was named an All-American while playing for the Mustangs; Whittleman’s Kingwood squads made two state appearances and won the 2005 5A state championship. Subsequently, he was drafted in the second round of the 2005 Major League Baseball Draft by the Texas Rangers. Whittleman spent six seasons with the team before being traded to the Kansas City Royals in 2011. During his time in the majors, Whittleman had the opportunity to play for Team USA in the 2007 Futures game.
