FAVORITE BASEBALL PLAYER GROWING UP: Omar Vizquel
Carlos Cartaya Jr. is a native of Venezuela who grew up in South Florida. During his youth, he played select baseball for a nationally ranked team that won several World Series and Super NITs, placed second in Cooperstown, and participated in the Elite 32 World Series. He had the privilege of being coached by his father, Carlos Cartaya, who is also a head coach for the Wildcatters.
Carlos played four years of college baseball at an NAIA school in South Florida and earned his bachelor’s degree in criminology. After graduating, he had the opportunity to play professionally in the Pecos League, where he was selected as an All-Star to represent his team. Since retiring from baseball, Carlos has transitioned into a coaching role, specializing in hitting training.
