FAVORITE BASEBALL PLAYER GROWING UP: Ken Griffey Jr.

Coach Whitby is a native of Phoenix, AZ. He attended Camelback High School, where he was a dual-sport athlete and received all-state honors in both sports, football and baseball. After high school, Whitby accepted a football scholarship to Prairie View A&M University and walked onto the baseball team. Whitby was a standout for the Panthers as a four-year starter at catcher, where he garnered two team MVP awards and all-conference honors as a senior. He was then drafted by the Colorado Rockies and played in the organization’s minor league system. Since ending his professional career, Whitby has coached in the Katy area for the last twelve years with various organizations before now joining the Houston Wildcatters as Director of Wildcatters West/Central Region and Coach of its 9U AAA team.
