Barrett Barnes brings a wealth of talent and experience to the Houston Wildcatters coaching staff. A two-time high school All-Star, Barrett’s exceptional performance on the field quickly earned him a place among Texas Tech’s elite. As a proud member of the Texas Tech Immortality Club and a three-time All-American, he set the bar high during his college career. His outstanding freshman season was recognized with the Big 12 Freshman of the Year award, and his defensive prowess earned him a spot as a Big 12 Gold Glove finalist.
Barrett’s skills caught the attention of Major League Baseball scouts, leading to his selection as the 45th overall pick in the 2012 MLB Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates. Recognized as a top 50 MLB prospect, he went on to excel in the minor leagues, earning MVP honors in Double-A. His defensive abilities once again shined as he became a Gold Glove finalist and a Double-A All-Star. A dominant force in the Eastern League, Barrett was named Player of the Week three times and Player of the Month once.
