A native of New Orleans, LA, Coach Reed launched his professional coaching career in 2010 when he was named Head Baseball Coach for Crescent City Baptist High School in Metairie, Louisiana. In his first year as Head Coach, Reed’s high-octane offense averaged 10 runs per game and helped propel the team to a 20-7 overall record. Concluding their season with a 2nd round regional appearance in the Louisiana state playoffs.

In 2012, Reed was offered an Internship opportunity at Houston Christian University. Reed worked under Athletic Director Steve Moniaci & Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Academics David Moss. Sports oversaw: Baseball & basketball.

In 2013, Reed transitioned back to the field accepting an opportunity with Prairie View A&M University, where he served as the team’s Pitching Coach under Head Coach Waskayla Cullivan from 2013 to 2014.

In 2015, Reed was named Pitching Coach for Alcorn State University. Midway through the season Reed was promoted to Hitting Coach managing the team’s offense. Immediately following the 2015 season, Reed served as the interim Head Baseball Coach for three months. During his time as Interim, Reed was responsible for the overall day to day operations. On the college ranks, Reed earned the reputation of being a tireless, relentless, and strategic recruiter.

In 2016, Reed was named Head Baseball Coach at Leesville High School in Louisiana. During Reed’s two-year stint at LHS from 2016 to 2018, he oversaw the entire baseball program. Reed led the LHS pitching staff to a 3.79 ERA, which ranked third in the district and top 10 in the state. In Reed’s two years at LHS, 3 members from the LHS Baseball team signed college baseball scholarships. One player, Johnathan Harmon was later drafted in the 13th round of the MLB 2022 draft by the Cincinnati Reds. The Wampus Cats earned 2 consecutive LHSAA State Tournament appearances (ending a 4-year post season drought from 2012-16). Both years at LHS Reed improved the team’s winning percentage by 50% finishing with a 12-18 overall record in year one. The following season the Wampus Cats finished with a 17-18 overall record, completing the regular season ranked 20th in the state of Louisiana. During Reed’s tenure the LHS baseball team averaged a team GPA of 3.0+ with a 100% graduation rating. Reed also spearheaded the team’s marketing and fundraising efforts. Raising over $50,000 in revenue for the LHS baseball program in 2 years.

Reed earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice at Prairie View A&M University in 2009 and completed his Master’s degree in Sports Administration at Canisius College in 2012. Oscar Reed is a member of the American Baseball Coaches Association.

Reed is currently the Assistant Pitching Coach for Alvin Junior College. Outside of working with the pitchers, Reed assists in recruiting & oversees the team’s social media accounts. Reed and his Wife have one son together
